Nokia 9 Flagship Smartphone Appears On GeekBench Again With Snapdragon 835, 4GB RAM
HMD Global’s Nokia 9 Android smartphone has surfaced once again on GeekBench seemingly confirming its specs. The device is named as “Unknown Heart” and is said to come with the Snapdragon 835 processor.
The GeekBench listing also indicates that the Nokia 9 will come with 4GB of RAM. However, the smartphone was also found on GeekBench last week with 8GB of RAM. This might indicate that the Nokia 9 will have an 8GB variant, which will most likely only be available in Asian markets, as pointed out by GSM Arena.
The most recent GeekBench listing also goes in line with the leaked spec sheet for the Nokia 9 from last month. IBT previously reported that alleged leaked photos of the handset surfaced online showing its “Heart” codename. The leaker of the photos also claimed that the handset is powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor with a clock speed of 2.46 GHz.
The final design of the Nokia 9 was kept hidden with a bulky, blue protective plastic case. However, the photos did confirm that it will have a physical home button up front with capacitive keys, the 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port with Quick Charge 3 support.
In a separate report by NokiaPowerUser today also revealed that the Nokia 9 has also appeared in the European Accreditation Union. The device appears to have already been granted certification in Europe signaling that the Nokia 9 will be released there soon.
EA Union certification also included the Nokia 9 specs and clearly states that it will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor as well. The certification also shows that there will also be single-SIM and dual-SIM variants of the upcoming smartphone.
The only thing that appears to be contradicting the recent GeekBench listing on the EA Union certification is the RAM capacity. The EA Union certification states that the Nokia 9 will come with 6GB or 8GB of RAM with no indication of a 4GB RAM variant.
It’s possible that the Nokia 9 might actually have three different variants with differing RAM capacities. HMD Global might be doing this in order to better cater to specific markets. Even if the rumored RAM size for the upcoming handset seems to be all over the place, there really is no more room to doubt that the Nokia 9 will have the Snapdragon 835 processor.
The Nokia 9 will be the first Nokia handset manufactured by HMD Global that will feature a dual-camera setup. The device will have dual 13MP camera sensors; one for color, and another for black and white, based on the previously leaked photos.
The Nokia 9 is also believed to come with a 5.3-inch OLED display with a 1440p quad HD screen resolution. Internal storage is said to be 64GB, with no word yet on other storage options.
HMD Global hasn’t announced the Nokia 9 yet, but it’s expected to arrive sometime during the second half of 2017 The popular rumor is that the upcoming flagship will carry a $700 price tag (unlocked) in the United States.
