Nokia Officially Unveils Its Latest Value-For-Money Smartphone

Nokia has finally unveiled its latest and cheapest smartphone yet, the Nokia 1.4. This new device comes as an irresistible offering for those who don’t need all of the bells and whistles offered by most flagships in the market, especially because it’s cheap.

As previously reported, the new Nokia 1.4 will sell for under €100 when it is released. The new smartphone, per SlashGear, will actually sell for €99, just €1 shy of the price originally announced. This converts to about $119 in U.S. dollars, but it’s currently unknown if that’s the actual price once the device hits American soil in the near future.

The device is not designed for heavy usage but primarily for basic communication and connectivity. It’s not designed for mobile gaming, but it will be able to run a few games. The specs and features indicate that it will be more of an “everyday” phone used for calling and texting, listening to music and taking photos.

Innards

The Nokia 1.4 is powered by Qualcomm’s 215 chipset backed by 1GB, 2GB or 3GB of RAM depending on the region where it is sold. This is backed by 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, again depending on regional availability. Storage is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

Display

The handset will feature a 6.517-inch HD+ edge-to-edge screen with a small teardrop notch on top. Aspect ratio is 20:9, which means the display is wide and good enough for a lot of tasks, like watching videos, photos, scrolling on feeds and more.

Cameras

At the back of the device is a dual-camera setup composed of an 8MP main sensor with autofocus and a 2MP macro sensor. There’s an LED flash for shots in dim lighting. Embedded inside the notch in front is a 5MP selfie camera, which will be enough for selfies or for video calls.

Connectivity

The Nokia 1.4 is not 5G-capable. It supports 4G LTE, which is fast enough for quick emails and social media uses. It has WiFi 2.4 and Bluetooth 4.2.

The device features support for dual Sim, but models that will be released for the U.S. and Latin America will only support a single SIM.

Security

The Nokia 1.4 is the first budget smartphone from the company to feature a fingerprint sensor.

Other features

The Nokia 1.4 will appeal to many users with some other features, including a 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual SIM support and a huge 4,000 mAh battery rated to last for up to two days on a single charge.

It will run Android 10 Go out of the box but can be upgraded to Android 11 Go when available. It also has a Google Assistant button. The device comes in three colors: Fjord, Charcoal, and Dusk.
