Norman Reedus reportedly suffered a head injury on the set of “The Walking Dead.”
On Wednesday, Deadline exclusively revealed that the 53-year-old got into an accident on the set of the AMC zombie series in Georgia on March 11.
The incident allegedly took place while the show was in the process of filming the final episodes of the long-running series.
“Norman suffered a concussion on set,” Reedus’ spokesperson Jeffrey Chassen told the news outlet.
It was not immediately clear if Reedus got injured while filming a scene for the show or not. But it was confirmed that the actor went to the hospital after the incident last Friday.
“He is recovering well and will return to work soon. Thank you to everyone for their concern,” Chassen said.
Due to the actor’s head injury, filming for the 11th and final season was delayed, a rep for AMC told Page Six.
“We can confirm it will push series wrap by a few days,” the rep said.
An insider told the outlet that Reedus was expected to be back on the set in a few days after “resting and recuperating.”
On the day of the incident, the actor promoted his debut novel, titled “The Ravaged,” which is due out on April 5, on Instagram. He hasn’t been active on the platform since sharing the post.
It was not the first time that Reedus got into an accident while filming for the zombie apocalypse series. In 2015, the actor accidentally cut up his arm while shooting for the fifth season’s episode, titled “Them.”
The incident was captured on camera, but it was never shown on screen, according to The Blast.
Meanwhile, once “The Walking Dead“ ends, Reedus and his co-star Melissa McBride, 56, are reprising their roles as Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier, respectively, for a spinoff series coming in 2023.
Two other fan-favorite characters are also getting their own show after the finale season. Lauren Cohan’s Maggie Greene and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan Smith are starring in another spinoff titled “Isle of the Dead.”
