North Carolina Student Attempted To Sexually Assault Middle-Schoolers On Bus, Teacher Didn't Stop Him
A Southern Alamance High School, North Carolina, student and a teacher were facing felony sex offense charges after a sexual assault video surfaced.
According to local reports, on March 5, the school system was informed about multiple attempted sexual assaults taking place on a school bus. The system was notified that two middle school students were the victims. Investigators spoke to both the students who revealed that the accused was 18-year-old Brandon Tyler Lane. The investigators also found a video in which the accused was seen physically assaulting and trying to sexually assault one of the victims.
Further investigation revealed that the driver of the bus, identified as 42-year-old Samuel Bradley Freeze, who was also a teacher, knew about the assaults taking place on the bus, but allowed it to happen.
While Freeze, the coach of multiple sports, was charged with “felony aiding and abetting attempted second-degree forcible sex offense” and “felony child abuse by sexual acts,” Lane was charged with “attempted second-degree forcible sex offense” and “misdemeanor assault.”
Speaking to CBS-affiliated television station WFMY-TV, Melissa King, whose daughter rides on the same bus, said she had met the driver several times and never expected him to be involved in such an incident.
"When you’re on that bus your job is to make sure my kid, as well as other kids, are taken care of and safe. You have let me and my family down as well as other people and their family,” she said, adding, “It's devastatingly scary. They both need to pay for what they’ve put these children and families through."
Meanwhile, Jenny Faulkner, the public information officer for the Alamance-Burlington School System, confirmed that Freeze’s employment has since been terminated.
