North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un vows to make the Trump administration pay for abusing the ongoing denuclearization dialogue and not heeding its demands. He also promised to shift to "shocking actual action" to punish the U.S., and said North Korea will go ahead with the development of weapons "so far restrained."
Kim made these declarations and others praising his accomplishments in 2019 before delegates at the 5th Plenary Meeting of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) from Dec. 28 to 31.
During the meeting, Kim assailed the Trump administration for raising demands contrary to North Korea's fundamental interests and for adopting a "brigandish attitude" in the denuclearization dialogue. He vowed to continue developing North Korea’s nuclear deterrent and will reveal a new strategic weapon in the near future.
“We will reliably put on constant alert the powerful nuclear deterrent capable of containing the nuclear threats from the U.S. and guaranteeing our long-term security," said Kim to the delegates, according to state-owned broadcaster, KCNA.
Kim also boasted about his country's perseverance in developing advanced weapons systems without foreign assistance. He called this a "great victory" in developing the capabilities of the Korean People's Army (KPA) to defend and guarantee the country's sovereignty and right to existence.
He personally the tacked meeting's top agenda, which was North Korea's immediate struggle against the United States. Kim told WPK delegates the Trump administration has openly revealed provocative political, military and economic maneuvers meant to completely strangle and stifle North Korea.
"This is the double-dealing behavior of the brigandish U.S.," declared Kim.
He vowed never to allow "the impudent U.S. to abuse the DPRK-U.S. dialogue for meeting its sordid aim but will shift to a shocking actual action to make it pay for the pains sustained by our people so far and for the development so far restrained."
Kim admitted the stalemate between North Korea and the U.S. has assumed a protracted nature. He noted the Trump administration is now talking about continued dialogue but all its talk is just aimed at allowing North Korea's year-end time-limit to pass.
Kim accuses the Trump administration of stalling for time to evade "a lethal attack as it now finds itself in a tight corner, not out of the intention to withdraw the hostile policy toward the DPRK and solve issues through improved relations."
He pointed out "great successes" in bolstering the state's strength and in increasing its military defense capabilities. Kim also emphasized the huge and complicated work of developing ultra-modern weapon system now possessed only by countries with advanced defense science and technology due to North Korea's own innovative scientific and technical solution without outside help.
He praised research tasks "perfectly carried out by the driving force," which is his country's reliable scientists, designers and workers in the field of the munitions industry, for these successes.
"This means a great victory, and our possession of promising strategic weapon system planned by the Party one by one serves as a great event in developing the armed forces of the Republic and defending and guaranteeing our sovereignty and right to existence," said Kim.
He said the more the Trump administration stalls for time and hesitates in improving its relations with North Korea, the more helpless it will find itself before his country, which is growing stronger beyond prediction. Stalling for time will do nothing to solve the current impasse, Kim warned.
Kim held open the possibility of a dialogue despite his bellicose statements. He said the “scope and depth” of North Korea's deterrent will be “properly coordinated depending on” the attitude of the United States.
