Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 Series Graphics Card Prices Are Ridiculously High In The UK

The unexpected surge of demand for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series despite the lack of stocks has prompted retailers to sell the in-demand graphics cards at an unbelievably high price. Interestingly, the prices previously leaked online were not that high compared to what the U.K. retailers have set for Nvidia's Ampere-based cards.

According to the data released by 3D Center, several U.K. retailers are selling the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards at three times the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Some U.K. retailers charged a reasonably standard price at both AMD and Nvidia graphics card series in January 2021. But right now, the prices are so high that buyers end up paying three times the original price.

For instance, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 is now for sale for 2,999 euros. This is a 317% increase over Nvidia's MSRP. As for the GeForce RTX 3060, the graphics card is now being sold at 207% higher than the MSRP. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, on the other hand, is now priced at 189%, which is also more expensive than the MSRP.

Meanwhile, Nvidia recently announced a new series of affordable laptops housing its latest GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards. These new machines are capable of AI-based DLSS and real-time tracing and sell at a starting price of $799. The most affordable laptops house the GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti.

This move expands Nvidia's technology to cater to more mainstream consumers and increases the number of GeForce RTX 30 series laptops to 140. According to the chipmaker, these new machines are twice as fast as the previous-generation systems. These laptops can provide 60 FPS at 1080p resolution in various video games like "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War" and "Minecraft RTX."

"There are now five times more RTX 30 Series gaming laptops that are thinner than 18mm compared with previous-generation RTX systems, delivering ground-breaking performance with very sleek and portable designs," Nvidia Director of Product Management for Laptops Mark Aevermann said.

"The latest wave of laptops provides the perfect opportunity to upgrade, particularly for gamers and creators with older laptops who want to experience the magic of RTX," he added.
