Obama says Mubarak responded to hunger for change
President Barack Obama said the Egyptian people's voices were heard and President Hosni Mubarak responded to people's hunger for change.
This is not the end of Egypt's transition. This is the beginning. I'm sure there will be difficult days ahead and there will be many answers, he said, speaking from the White House on Friday.
Obama said that nothing less than genuine democracy will carry the day.
He commended the military for serving without violence and said it should now ensure a transition 'that is credible to the Egyptian people.
He once again called for all of Egypt's people to be heard in that decision.
The U.S. will continue to be a friend of partner to Egypt, Obama said.
