Olivia Wilde couldn't stop gushing over her rumored boyfriend, Harry Styles. She took to Instagram on Monday to praise the 27-year-old singer for playing a supporting role in the female-led film "Don't Worry Darling."
The 36-year-old director and actress noted that many male actors in the industry don't fancy the idea of playing a supporting character in a women-oriented film. She admitted that the industry has made men believe that accepting supporting roles in a female-driven film would lower their value, EW reported.
The "Love the Coopers" star further explained that it's the reason why many projects focusing on female stories find it difficult to get funding. "No joke, it is harrrrrd to find actors who recognize why it might be worth it to allow for a woman to hold the spotlight," she said.
Wilde then praised Styles who, according to her, did not only ensure Florence Pugh could excel as Alice but also "infused every scene with a nuanced sense of humanity."
She addressed her project as a "circus" and noted that it wasn't obligatory for the "I Love One Direction" star to join it but he thankfully did. She further wrote that Styles joined the film with "humility and grace" while he blew up every day with his warmth, talent and ability to drive backward.
The actress concluded her lengthy message with the #dontworrydarling hashtag and a punch emoji.
Apart from Pugh and Styles, "Don't Worry Darling" cast members include Chris Pine, Douglas Smith, Dakota Johnson, Timothy Simons, Kiki Layne and Nick Kroll.
Pugh portrays Styles' wife in the film, which is set in the 1950s. Pugh's character learns an upsetting truth about her husband that moves the psychological thriller forward, USA Today reported.
Styles became part of "Don't Worry Darling" following Shia LaBeouf's exit in September 2020.
In April last year, news broke that Pugh and LaBeouf would portray lead characters in Wilde's second feature directorial. However, LaBeouf was replaced with Styles because of his alleged poor behavior, according to a report from Variety. "He is not an easy guy to work with," a source said regarding LaBeouf's attitude on set.
