Hold onto your swords, “Once Upon a Time” fans! The Season 5 premiere is quickly approaching, and ABC has released images from the highly anticipated return. But don’t expect to feast your eyes on Storybrooke. The episode 1 promo photos are set in the Enchanted Forest.

As we previously reported, the network also released the synopsis for episode 1, titled “The Dark Swan.” According to the episode description, the premiere will pick up right after the shocking Season 4 ending where Emma (Jennifer Morrison) was swallowed up by a cloud of darkness (or the smoke monster from “Lost”). The Dark One’s dagger, which was once engraved with Rumpelstiltskin’s (Robert Carlyle) name, dropped to the ground. When fans got a closer look at the blade, they found a new name etched on it – Emma Swan. But Emma was nowhere to be found.

The first episode of Season 5 will find Emma’s family and friends trying to find her. However, the new problem is that she’s no longer in their world … she somehow got transported to the Enchanted Forest.

Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin), Charming (Josh Dallas), Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) will be forced to turn to an “unlikely ally” in order to get back Emma. Meanwhile, the new Dark One will be making new friends in the Enchanted Forest as she begins her journey to find the mysterious Merlin (Elliot Knight), the only person who has the power to stop her from turning evil. On the road towards Camelot she’ll encounter “Brave” princess Merida (Amy Manson), King Arthur (Liam Garrigan) and a familiar face to “Once Upon a Time” viewers – Lancelot (Sinqua Walls)!

The fairytale drama unfolds when the “Once Upon a Time” Season 5 premiere airs on ABC on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. EDT.
