One Direction Wins Favorite Music Group At Kids' Choice Awards After Zayn Malik Exit
One Direction may be going through a lot right now, but fans continue to support them. The group won Favorite Music Group during Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday thanks to votes from dedicated Directioners. 1D faced off against Coldplay, OneRepublic, Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons and Maroon Five in the category.
This isn't the first time that One Direction has taken home the title of Favorite Music Group. It won that and Favorite Song during the 2014 KCAs. Unfortunately the group, which now has four members, was not present to accept their blimp.
The Grammy Award-winning musical group is currently abroad with its "On The Road Again" tour. The singers recently made stops in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Manila in the Philippines. During the stop in Indonesia, 1D front-man Harry Styles broke down onstage. Many attributed his tears to an earlier announcement that Zayn Malik, who has been with the group since its creation five years ago, would be quitting.
Malik dropped out of the tour March 19, citing stress as the cause. One Direction revealed that its tour would continue and it hoped to have Malik back by March 29. Unfortunately, the 22-year-old made his departure official just over a week later, releasing a statement March 25. Malik claimed he simply wanted to be out of the public eye for a bit.
