'One Piece' 1040 Confirms Brook's Not Grim Reaper, New Zunisha Revelation, Yonko's Downfall, More [Spoilers]

"One Piece" 1040 may be a short chapter with only 15 pages, but it's overflowing with juicy details, including the confirmation of Big Mom's downfall, the surprising revelation about Zunisha, as well as the fact that Brook is not the Grim Reaper.

Eiichiro Oda's "One Piece" is nearing the end of the Wano arc, and its latest chapter debunks earlier speculations that Brook is the Grim Reaper Zoro previously saw. Thanks to industry insiders within the community, the rough and raw scans are now available, giving fans the gist of what the chapter is about.

The raw scans of "One Piece" 1040, which is titled "Words That Have No Effect on the New Generation," reveal Zunisha is connected to the mysterious but extremely relevant figure of the Void century–Joyboy. According to Momonosuke, the gigantic elephant that carried Zou for several decades is Joyboy's nakama who committed a crime eight centuries ago.

Unfortunately, this is where details about Zunisha end. The latest set of raw scans does not say if Zunisha was originally human who only turned into an animal because of a curse or if it was actually an animal who was condemned to wander the world as a punishment.

One of the panels of "One Piece" 1040 raw scans also reveals Brook is nowhere near Zoro's location. This seemingly proves Zoro was just hallucinating when he mistakenly perceived Brook as the Grim Reaper.

"One Piece" 1040 also showcases how Worse Generation's Law and Kid defeated the Emperor of the Sea, Big Mom. Moreover, it confirms the victors of the said fight were Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kid.

Somewhere in the chapter, Big Mom blames Gol D. Roger for his final speech in the execution chamber. According to the Yonko, it birthed the great pirate era and now a new breed of pirates has begun coming for her head.

The latest set of raw scans also shows the battle between Raizo and Fukurukuju is finally ending. Raizo of the Mist is still standing while Orochi's ninja is lying on the ground, asking for water.

"One Piece" 1040 is set to roll out on Sunday. The manga will have another break before it releases a new chapter.
