Here are the 8 things you need to know about the upcoming device:
Display: According to a leaked wallpaper, which surfaced in March, the OnePlus 5 might have a full HD 1080p display, just like the OnePlus 3T. The device was earlier expected to have an edge-to-edge display on the lines of the Samsung Galaxy S8, but recent rumors point towards an 18:9 aspect ratio for the device, which means it will have thin bezels and a home button.
Design: Until Thursday, the only aspect of OnePlus 5’s design that was known was it would be a thin device. On May 26, OnePlus CEO and co-founder Pete Lau posted on Weibo the device might be the thinnest flagship phone of 2017.
But on Thursday, more details were revealed about the device in OnePlus’ tweet announcing the launch of the device.
The tweet shows a device with an-iPhone like form factor with a metallic-looking back, rounded edges and a screen that tapers into edges.
Dual-camera: The official post also clarifies one of the biggest rumors about the device — its dual-camera setup. According to the official image posted on the company’s twitter account, the OnePlus 5 will have a horizontal dual camera setup with flash and not a vertical one, as earlier rumored.
Snapdragon 835 processor: OnePlus confirmed on its Weibo page the OnePlus 5 will have a Snapdragon 835 processor, just like the Samsung Galaxy S8. The processor has 10nm processor architecture, which makes it much more power-efficient and provides it better performance than the OnePlus 3T’s Snapdragon 821 processor.
4,000 mAh battery: The device was earlier rumored to have a 4,000 mAh battery up from OnePlus 3T’s 3400 mAh one. But going by the size and proportions of the device showcased in the image in its Twitter post, chances are the OnePlus might not be able to accommodate such a big battery and might have the same battery as its predecessor.
Ceramic variant: The company is also expected to launch different variants of the device including a ceramic one and one in midnight black color.
The device is expected to launch with a price tag of 550 Euros (Around $615), which is a tad expensive in comparison to the OnePlus 3T which costs $409.99 currently. It’s date of availability in the U.S. is not yet known, but it is expected to be available either by the end of this month or early next month.
