OnePlus is teasing once again about something that might be unrelated to OnePlus 8. Earlier leaks revealed that the Chinese tech company is targeting an early lunch for its next-generation smartphone this year. However, the mysterious 'Special Project' that we have seen now and then could be an entirely different thing.
OnePlus Teases Consumers
On its official Twitter accounts, OnePlus about a mysterious product. It all began with reports that the company is working on a special project that is 'not a smartphone or a commercial product.' Earlier today, its official Twitter India account was hinting that 2020 is a year of surprises.
Its official UK account also tweeted several cryptic pics with the messages only visible when the brightness and contrast are adjusted. It reads, "You won't find anything. Stop trying. But always remember. Robots are cool." OnePlus CEO Pete Lau chimed in, noting that there are already a couple of hints pointing out 5G and snow.
OnePlus 8 Early Reveal
OnePlus usually unveils its new smartphone in May, but it seems that fans may see the unveiling of the OnePlus 8 earlier than usual. A new report from Tech Radar India claims that the next-generation OnePlus 8 might be revealed in the middle of Apr. 2020. The report cites a source close to the company that shared with them the details.
Although the Chinese tech company has not yet revealed anything related to the upcoming smartphone, several reports already shared a few details about it. OnePlus 8 might release in three variants, the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Lite, and the OnePlus 8 Pro. The more affordable variant OnePlus 8 Lite would reportedly feature a 6.4-inch display.
The OnePlus 8 Lite is also anticipated to house MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chipset and would feature a 90Hz refresh rate. For the OnePlus 8 variant, it is anticipated to feature a 6.6-inch display and would house Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with 120Hz refresh rate. The more expensive variants are expected to feature 5G support along with bigger battery packs.
At this point, these details about the OnePlus 8 series is not official yet. We suggest taking this with a grain of salt.
