‘The Originals’ Spoilers: What Happened In The Season 3 Finale? Recap Before The Season 4 Premiere
It’s time to get our fangs out! “The Originals” returns with a brand new Season 4 on Friday, March 17 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW. Given that there was a considerable amount of break between Seasons 3 and 4, it is possible to forget where the show left off. Not to worry, we’ve got a quick recap of the finale described below.
The Season 3 finale kicked off with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) emerging as a super original after he drank Lucien’s (Andrew Lees) serum. This concoction made him more powerful than Klaus. Since Elijah (Daniel Gillies) killed him, he wants revenge on the entire Mikaelson clan.

Marcel, now the new leader of New Orleans, gets his friends to nullify a deed and foreclose a property. Within moments, Marcel and several of Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) enemies descend upon him and poison his sister, Freya (Riley Voelkel). In a fight between Davis’ character and the Mikaelsons, he bites Elijah and Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic).
In a last ditch effort to save Klaus, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) resurrects Rebekah (Claire Holt). She helps Marcel put her bother on trial for his past actions rather than kill him. The plan works but Klaus is still found guilty of all the crimes he is accused of. Nevertheless, Rebekah manages to get Klaus walled in rather than murdered.
Soon after, Marcel stabbed Klaus with Papa Tunde’s blade and ensconced him inside a brick wall.
Freya used her magic to transport her siblings, a bitten Elijah and Kol, a cursed Rebekah and her poisoned self, in a dream-like state. She links her and her siblings’ life force to Klaus.
Now it’s up to Hayley to find a cure for Freya’s poison, Elijah and Kol’s werewolf bites and Rebecka’s ripper curse. The Season 4 premiere begins five years later with Hope’s (Summer Fontana) mother close to waking up Elijah.
