Orlando Bloom, Fellow UNICEF Volunteers Get Lost In Africa Before Making It To Los Angeles
Katy Perry’s boyfriend Orlando Bloom was all smiles when he landed in Los Angeles yesterday, so it wasn’t that obvious that the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” star actually got into some trouble several hours prior. Apparently, the 40-year-old Hollywood actor got lost in Africa with his fellow UNICEF volunteers before they managed to make it to the U.S.
In an Instagram update shared on Tuesday, Bloom revealed that he and the UNICEF people who went with him to do some volunteer work in Niger couldn’t find their way to the airport. In the video clip, Bloom’s friend even said that they’ve been driving for three hours, but they still didn’t know where they were. The actor also sounded despondent about the situation when he told the camera that Google Maps wasn’t helpful at all. The following clip is NSFW.
Fortunately, Bloom and his fellow volunteers eventually found their path to the airport and landed at LAX airport yesterday. He was spotted by Just Jared arriving with the other volunteers wearing a brown jacket over his black UNICEF-labeled shirt and with his earphones on.
Bloom has been a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF since 2009, which was two years after he joined the nonprofit organization. Ever since then, the actor would frequently do some charity work in cities with underprivileged people. Last weekend, he went to Niger and spent time with the less-fortunate kids and struggling families.
In his final moments in Niger, Bloom revealed that more work still needs to be done to help underprivileged communities. Through a video he published on Instagram, the actor showed the product of their volunteer work with UNICEF. He noted in the caption that the organization does an amazing job in saving lives. He also teased that there’s more to come from him and his effort to help others in the future.
Meanwhile, the day Bloom arrived in Los Angeles was incidentally the same day Perry released her new music video for “Chained to the Rhythm.” In the days leading to its release, the singer dropped some hints on what her fans can expect from her politically charged music video.
