Orlando School Bus Stabbing: 11-Year-Old Boy Stabbed 15-Year-Old Outside Chain Of Lakes Middle School
An 11-year-old Florida boy is in custody after he stabbed his 15-year-old classmate with a pair of scissors Wednesday at Chain of Lakes Middle School in Orlando.
The student was stabbed in the chest with the scissors around 9 a.m. Wednesday, as the boys got off the bus after arriving at the Orlando middle school, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported. Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office told the paper that the 11-year-old was taken into custody.
The names of both boys weren’t publicly released.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Orlando NBC affiliate WESH. Chain of Lakes Middle School was not put on lockdown following the stabbing, WKMG reported.
"All classes are operating as normal," Orange County Public Schools spokeswoman Kathy Marsh told the Sun-Sentinel.
The principal of Chain of Lakes Middle School went to the hospital to be with the boy and his mother, Marsh added.
Voicemails were sent out to parents of students at the middle school, WFTV reported. One parent told the station that there have been a couple of altercations on school buses recently.
"My son is 11 years old, and he actually asked me to drive him to school the past couple of months because on his bus there's been two incidents of fights. That's why he hasn't wanted to go on the bus at all," parent Anthony Leone told WFTV.
