Who got it right and who looked the best at the 2011 Academy Awards? Get an insider's view of one of the biggest nights of Hollywood as the crème-de-la-crème of the industry pose in LA outside the Kodak Theatre.
An accolade bestowed by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the Oscars is one of the oldest award ceremonies to award excellence in cinematic achievements.
As always, some of the best moments of the events start prior to the main awards, on the red carpet. The Associated Press reports that the carpet underwent some changes this year with the movie academy doing away with the famous hedges that separated the media from the talent. In their place were black metal barriers decorated with Academy Awards labels.

The lacy, slightly see-through dress of Scarlet surely made a few heads turn at the Sunday Oscars. The magenta gown custom-made by Dolce & Gabanna, flattered the “Lost in Transition” actress’ perfect figure.

The sexy red number by Jennifer Lawrence made her look stunning, which she paired with Jimmy Choo shoes and her Judith Leiber bag. Commended for her great fashion sense, Jennifer has opted for a simple and minimalist look for the 2011 Oscars. Her streamlined look was complimented by her soft blond waves and smoky eye make-up.

Although the low-cut gown made her look elegant and demure, a splash of color could have added the much-needed zazz. Her romantic updo was complimented by her smoky sultry eyes and her artfully sculpted cheekbones.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the sultry look was achieved by makeup artist Tracey Levy who used Lancome makeup, starting with Teint Miracle lit from within foundation and Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose. On her eyes was a combination of Coral Crush and Impress eye shadow as well as a heavy dose of Le Crayon Kohl eyeliner in black and Hypnose Waterproof custom volume mascara in black.

Anne Hathaway’s vintage look in a red Valentino gown was like a teaser for the main event. To fulfill her “hosting duties” the lovely star wore a stunning array of gowns, making it difficult to decide which her best look was.
Following her “Red Carpet” Valentino look, the “Devil wears Prada” star wore a glamorous Givenchy white gown paired with a Tiffany Archives bracelet. This was followed by a Vivienne Westood Couture gown with a corseted bodice and embroidered lace and sequins. Her next look was a beaded dress by designer Oscar de la Renta which she again paired with Tiffany jewels.
Anne’s sixth look was a chiffon Atelier Versace gown with Tiffany jewels and Casadei pumps. This was followed by a seventh Armani Privé custom-made gown and a final evening dress by designer Tom Ford.

Coming once again in the list of “best-dressed” Oscar stars is Halle Berry who looked flawlessly glamorous in a nude Marchesa corset-gown.
The silk ruffles on her dress complimented the detail work on the bodice.

Truly enough, her red strapless Vera Wang gown made her look very much a winner. The brunette beauty sashayed the red-carpet in regal style adding verve and charm to the event.

The 2011 Oscars was truly an event where minimalist styles ruled over the usual dramatic necklines and ruffles.
Seen adhering to the trend was superstar Reese Witherspoon who looked dazzling in a black and white Armani Privé gown. Her retro updo gave a hip 60s look complimented by her sparkling emerald earrings.
