‘Outlander’ Wine Is Here To Make Sundays Even Better
If your Sunday night routine involves curling up with a glass of wine and watching “Outlander,” Lot18 is about to make your night even better. The company is releasing more “Outlander” wine Monday.
Sassenachs may recall that Lot18 released four limited edition “Outlander” wines last year. While the original quartet is no longer available, the company is releasing six new types of vino. Much like last time, it’s a limited edition run, so place your orders fast. The new bottles go on sale Monday, Oct. 9 at 12 p.m. EDT on the Lot18 website. Prices range from $20-$25 per bottle, but expect a discount if you buy a set.
The wines all have names that are a little more fun than last year (when they were just named after characters). This time, the brand has chosen titles based on Jamie and Claire’s many nicknames.
- If rosé all day is your motto, Sassenach is the pink wine you’ll want. The Languedoc-la-clape rosé has “flavors of strawberry, white peach and grapefruit, racy minerality, and clean finish,” Lot 18 notes.
- If you prefer a nice California pinot noir, try Mo Nighean Donn (the gaelic term for “my brown-haired lass,” which Jamie calls Claire). It has flavors of black raspberry, forest floor and tea.
- White wine lovers will want La Dame Blanche (what Claire was called in Paris). The pays d’oc viognier has peach and apricot flavors with a bit of acidity.
- Of course, the red wine is called Red Jamie. The Côtes du Rhône rouge has flavors of red plum and blueberry, and the red blend is comprised of 70% Syrah, 15% Carignane and 15% Grenache.
- Mac Dubh, Jamie’s nickname in Ardsmuir prison meaning “son of the black,” is a Pays d’Oc Syrah. Lot18 calls this “an intense wine” with blueberry flavor.
- Finally, Jamie’s most recent alias, Alexander Malcolm, is getting a wine too. A. Malcolm is a Languedoc-la-clape rouge, a red wine from southern france. This vino has “the pure, black-red fruit nuances,” according to the company.
Lot18 only ships within the continental U.S. Laws about shipping alcohol vary by state, so choose your shipping location at the top of Lot18’s website before selecting your bottles.
If you need to make sure everything is themed, Starz already has “Outlander” wine glasses for sale. Crystal stemware is available at the show’s official store. The $34.95 set comes with two glasses etched with Jamie and Claire’s silouhettes and a special box for storage.
Now in its third season, “Outlander” is a time travel drama on Starz. The series follows Claire (Caitriona Balfe), an English World War II nurse, who suddenly finds herself in 18th century Scotland. In the latest season, Claire has spent 20 years in her own time while the love of her life, Jamie (Sam Heughan), remained in the 1700s.
The wines are coming out at the perfect time. In Sunday’s episode of “Outlander,” Claire finally headed back to the 18th century and found Jamie in his print shop, giving fans a good reason to raise a glass in celebration.
