'Outriders' Guide: Updated 'New Horizon' Overheat Pyromancer Build

The Acari set has been a staple for many Pyromancer builds even before the “New Horizon” patch for “Outriders” was released, but after a number of changes to the class’ skills, passives and mods, players can now push this trusty armor set to new heights.

Returning “Outriders” players may have missed out on a lot of the changes that happened to the game over the course of a few months before the “New Horizon” patch was released. While the Pyromancer didn’t receive many changes from the free update, there were quite a few notable buffs from some of the past monthly patches.

Here’s an updated Overheat build using a few of the buffed skills and mods.

Legendary Set, Skills and Mods

As stated, this build will make use of the Acari set and its powerful Anomaly Power buff. The three-piece bonus will grant the player 50% more Anomaly Power (caps at 300% bonus AP) for every enemy hit by Heatwave, which can lead to some staggering damage numbers when executed properly.

Heatwave, Overheat and Ash Blast will be the main abilities for this build thanks to their combo potential.

The Acari Helmet, Armor and Boots are recommended for the Fire Tsunami, Detonator and Master Consumer mods. This combination will grant larger Heatwaves and a 50% reduction to Overheat’s cooldown on top of the ability to consume both Burn and Ash statuses. A large damage bonus is granted when both effects are simultaneously consumed from a target.

Prioritize Anomaly Power, Skill Damage and Cooldown Reduction on armor pieces.

For other mod slots, take the following:

• Pants On Fire
• Ride The Wave/Tidal Wave
• Death Sentence
• Burnt Out

Death Sentence received a buff to its duration, which should give players more time to set up a big damage nuke with both Heatwave and Overheat.

Spam Heatwave to deal chip damage to all enemies, and use Heatwave to apply Burn and gain the Acari set’s Anomaly Power bonus. When elite or boss enemies appear, use Heatwave to apply Burn and Burnt Out, then Ash Blast to apply Ash status. Detonate both status effects with Overheat to deal 7-digit damage numbers on affected targets.

Class Tree and Recommended Weapons

Take passives in the Tempest tree that buff cooldowns, Anomaly Power/damage and damage against Marked targets. Take the With Fire And Anomaly node for increased damage and Phoenix Nestling for survivability.

Like with other AP builds, Deathshield and Funeral Pyre with Shadow Comet and Fortress are the most ideal weapons, thanks to the high burst damage plus 43% damage bonus from the mods.

However, players who prefer other mods can use The Juggler with Scrap Grenade and Judgment Enforcer for massive damage per reload.
