Over 100 Middle-Aged Couples Arrested After Cops Bust California Swingers Party
KEY POINTS
- The swingers party held at a warehouse location was advertised for adult couples on Plushlife.org
- The party location had stripper poles, cages and beds covered in condoms
- A swingers party in New Orleans had caused 41 COVID-19 cases in December
The California authorities arrested over 200 people taking part in underground parties over the weekend, in a massive operation aimed to curb the surge in COVID-19 cases.
Most of those arrested were middle-aged attendees of a warehouse swingers party, advertised for adult couples on the website Plushlife.org, said a report by NY Daily News.
The images shared by the LA County Sheriff on Jan. 12 on Twitter show dozens of people lined up outside his office, waiting for their citations.
Some were spotted wearing face masks and covering themselves in blankets.
The report said the warehouse location had stripper poles, cages and beds covered in condoms for the party guests.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, the authorities will take action against all underground parties.
"We will seek out and take law enforcement action against all underground party events occurring anywhere within Los Angeles County, who fall under the Health Orders of the County’s Department of Public Health,” the department said in a tweet.
Ever since the COVID-19 outbreak was reported, restrictions were placed on every county in Southern California. Residents have been advised to stay home and all indoor dining establishments and gyms have been closed.
According to the latest public health order: “All public and private gatherings of any number of people from more than one household are prohibited."
The latest data from Johns Hopkins University reveal that over 31,000 people have died in California from the disease.
In December, a four-day swingers' convention in New Orleans had resulted in 41 new infections. Naughty Events Owner Bob Hannaford had then said his company has reached out to attendees to urge them to get tested.
The New York Sheriff’s Office too had busted a swingers party with more than 80 people in attendance in November. While responding to a call, they found people drinking, eating and having sex at a site in Queens. Boxes of condoms were spotted everywhere and three couples were seen engaging in sex in a small back room, the Sheriff’s Office had said.
According to them, images from the events had shown that many attendees had not been wearing masks or practicing social distancing.
