Over 30 Games To Be Announced At Summer Games Fest 2021
KEY POINTS
- Summer Games Fest 2021 will start on June 10
- The digital event will be free to watch on all major streaming platforms
- Over 30 games are expected to be announced at the event
The Summer Game Fest of 2021 is set to kick off on Thursday and players can expect more than just a handful of game announcements from their favorite devs and publishers.
Geoff Keighley, the man behind the Summer Game Fest, shared a short trailer for the upcoming kick-off event on his Twitter. He noted that over 30 games are expected to be revealed over the weekend as well as a few other surprises for those who want to attend the digital event.
This will be Summer Game Fest’s second year. The gaming expo was inaugurated back in 2020 in a three-month-long event from May to August. SGF 2020 showcased a large number of game-related news and announcements, including an early peek at Unreal Engine 5, the PlayStation 5 and even a special interview with esteemed game director Hideo Kojima.
High-profile publishers also attended last year’s Summer Game Fest. Sony, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft and Riot Games made their respective announcements at SGF 2020 and a similar roster of presenters is expected to showcase their upcoming projects at this year’s convention.
Unlike last year, Summer Game Fest 2021 is set to run for a little less than a month. Notable participants for this year include:
- Koch Media
- Ubisoft
- Devolver Digital
- Xbox/Bethesda
- Square Enix
- Warner Bros. (Back4Blood specifically)
- Steam
- Electronic Arts
SGF 2021’s schedule will overlap with E3 2021 over the weekend and it’s not yet clear how the presentations are going to work. However, it’s likely that the affected publishers will simply stream on both E3 and SGF’s channels, simultaneously. Ubisoft, Xbox, Square Enix and Warner Bros. are all listed under the official schedules of both conventions, according to VentureBeat and the official SGF 2021 schedule.
The majority of this year’s Summer Game Fest will happen over the course of the weekend from June 10 to June 13. However, SGF will also cover the upcoming Steam Next Fest and EA Play Live on June 16 and July 22, respectively.
There hasn’t been any word on what games are going to be shown during the event, but it’s expected the presentations that coincide with E3 will remain largely the same.
Summer Game Fest 2021 is free to attend and will be broadcast over all major online streaming platforms, including Twitch and YouTube.
