Owen Wilson Gets Candid About 2007 Suicide Attempt, Future Of Mobius In Marvel
Owen Wilson poured his heart out to Esquire in an interview titled “Owen Wilson Is Doing Great, Thanks.” During this interview, he talked about life, family, his 2007 suicide attempt and *drum-roll* the much-awaited future of Mobius in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During the interview, the “Marley & Me” star said “Sometimes life seems to be played by Tom Hardy in ‘The Revenant,’ some nightmarish guy trying to kill you, where even if you get the upper hand, he’s still going to be there at the end whispering, ‘This ain’t gonna bring your boy back’ or your dad back or any good times from your past back. Or whatever. And when life’s being played by that guy, you just gotta hang on and wait for it to pass.’”
Following his suicide attempt, Owen’s older brother Andrew “stayed in his house with him after that, rising with him each morning and writing up little schedules for each day so that life seemed at first manageable and then, at some point, a long time later, actually good.”
Owen had battled depression in the past and in August 2007 he was rushed to the hospital after he tried to take his life.
On a lighter note, Owen talked about his boys who he has "on a single-dad schedule." He talked about how he enjoys telling them stories at night in the PJ’s, the same way his dad used to do with him and his brothers.
He recalled, "Sometimes telling the stories at night, you do take a little pride that these guys are into this story! One of them even said, ‘Dad, you should do something with this. This is a really good story!' It was about this little pack of boys in a post-apocalyptic world, and there's a pack of dogs—I play to my audience."
The 52-year-old actor has two sons with Caroline Lindqvist -- Robert, 10, and Jade Duell, 7.
The “Midnight In Paris” actor later discussed the future of his character Mobius in the MCU. "I couldn't even speculate. Although now that we've sort of put that on the table, the whole time element, I guess Agent Mobius could show up anywhere, even outside the MCU," he teased.
"We might see him if they do a reboot on 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' or 'Back to the Future.' You might see Agent Mobius there. Like if they rent him out, maybe," Wilson told Esquire.
Owen played Mobius, one of the agents of the Time Variance Authority, who soon becomes very close friends with the ‘God of Mischief’ Loki played by Tom Hiddleston.
Meanwhile, it wouldn’t be a stretch to expect Mobius in the second season of Loki, if not as Mobius, at least as one of his variants from another timeline.
