Paul Pogba of Manchester United and the France national team is one of the most famous players in soccer today, but how much does he earn?
At 28, the soccer star, who was a key part of the French team that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup, is now worth an estimated $125 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. He reportedly earns £290,000 ($408,000) per week in his current deal with United as of 2020.
Pogba ranked no. 43 on Forbes' 2021 list of the world's highest-paid athletes after having earned an estimated $35.5 million over the past year. His current five-year deal with Manchester United, which pays him over $20 million annually, is set to expire after the 2021-22 season.
Pogba began his professional soccer career at the age of 16 in 2009 when he joined Manchester United. His move was seen as controversial at the time as his previous club, Le Havre A.C., intended to sign him as a youth player and claimed the Premier League club lured Pogba with $120,000 and a home to play for them, as per Celebrity Net Worth. United was later cleared of wrongdoing.
Despite spending a few years in United's U-18 team and then earning a first-team promotion, he refused to renew his contract with the English club and signed a deal with Juventus in 2012. Pogba rose to new heights in his career in Italy and became known as one of the best young players in the sport.
In 2016, Pogba returned to Manchester after Juventus agreed to sign him away for a then-world-record fee of $125 million, the BBC reported.
His current deal with United pays him an estimated annual base salary of $28 million. Pogba also receives around $6 million to $10 million per year from endorsements and sponsorships, which include Adidas and Pepsi, as per Celebrity Net Worth.
The midfielder's deal with Adidas is valued at more than $43 million, according to Essentially Sports.
In April, Pogba signed an overall deal with Amazon Studios, which greenlit a documentary series on the athlete titled “The Pogmentary,” Variety reported. It is expected to release in 2022.
The French player, who boasts more than 44 million followers on his Instagram account, was also tapped by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to appear in its documentary “Outraged,” which will focus on discrimination within the sport.
