  • Pete Davidson deleted his new Instagram account just a week after he rejoined social media
  • Davidson's decision had nothing to do with Kanye West, a report says
  • The comedian reportedly quit the social media platform after receiving "a flood" of negative and positive messages

Pete Davidson has deleted his Instagram again just days after returning to the social media platform.

Last week, Davidson, 28, surprised fans when a new verified account for the "Saturday Night Live" star popped up on Instagram. However, as of Wednesday afternoon, the comedian's Instagram page was down.

An unnamed source close to Davidson told Page Six that the actor's decision to quit the platform has nothing to do with Kanye West, who previously launched a series of online attacks against Davidson via Instagram.

"Pete deleted his IG because immediately after his first post he started receiving a flood of messages, both positive and negative, reminding him why he didn't want social media to begin with," the insider said.

Davidson deleted his account just hours after he shared a clip from Martin Scorsese's 1982 film "The King of Comedy," in which Robert De Niro, as wannabe comic Rupert Pupkin, claims, "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime." Fans quickly speculated that it was a dig at West amid the rapper's drama with Davidson's girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

"[Pete] is in the middle of several big film projects and wants to continue to stay very focused on his work and the positive things happening in his life," the source close to Davidson explained. "Kanye didn't drive Pete off social media."

Following Davidson's move, West took to his own Instagram account to throw shade at the comedian.

"Ran Skete off the 'gram," West wrote alongside a screenshot that shows "User not found" on Davidson's profile. "Tell your mother I changed your name for life."

West has been dissing Davidson — whom he has dubbed "Skete" — via Instagram amid the comedian and Kardashian's budding romance, which began in October 2021. Kardashian filed to divorce West in February 2021 after seven years of marriage and four children: North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2.

When Davidson's return to social media made headlines earlier this month, the "Gold Digger" rapper followed his account before launching another attack at the actor via a since-deleted post, which read: "HI SKETE YOU GOT ANYMORE MENTAL HEALTH JOKES FOR ME."

In another since-deleted post, West insisted that he was not harassing Davidson but was just getting "payback."

"This boy thought he could get away with performing this sketch for the team that wrote this for him," West wrote of the 2018 "Weekend Update" segment in which Davidson criticized the rapper for his MAGA rant. "This is not harassment. This is payback."

Following the Grammy winner's latest social media tirade against her beau, Kardashian unfollowed West on Instagram.

The exes' divorce is still ongoing one year after Kardashian filed to end their marriage, with West recently objecting to several of his estranged wife's demands. The reality star has asked a judge to sign off on the split due to West allegedly causing "emotional distress" with his social media attacks.
