Pete Davidson In Therapy Due To Kanye West's Online Harassment: Report
KEY POINTS
- Pete Davidson allegedly has been in trauma therapy since April due to Kanye West's threatening social media posts
- The attention and negativity from the rapper's antics were reportedly a "trigger" for the comedian
- Davidson reportedly has "no regrets" about dating West's estranged wife Kim Kardashian
Pete Davidson has been undergoing therapy after being harassed online by Kanye West, a report has claimed.
Earlier this year, West launched a series of cyber attacks against Davidson while the "Saturday Night Live" alum was dating the rapper's estranged wife Kim Kardashian. While the comedian did not acknowledge or publicly respond to most of West's social media antics, Davidson has reportedly been seeking help for his mental health in recent months.
Since April, Davidson "has been in trauma therapy in large part" due to the threatening posts from West, an unnamed source told People.
"The attention and negativity coming from Kanye and his antics is a trigger for [Pete], and he's had to seek out help," the insider added.
But though dating the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" alum had earned him the Grammy winner's wrath, the 28-year-old comedian has "no regrets" about his relationship with the 41-year-old reality star, according to the source.
The insider added that Davidson "wants it to be made very clear" that Kardashian had "been nothing but supportive of him throughout their relationship."
The "King of Staten Island" star now only wants to focus on his career, according to the source.
West's rep did not respond to requests for comment, according to People.
Last week, Davidson and Kardashian called it quits after nine months of dating. The pair dated while Kardashian was still married to West, with whom she shares four kids: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.
Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February 2021. They were declared legally single this March.
After her split from Davidson made headlines, the "Gold Digger" rapper returned to Instagram and shared a disturbing image mocking the actor. He posted a faux New York Times front page with a headline that read: "Skete Davidson Dead at Age 28." West gave Davidson the nickname "Skete" during their one-sided feud earlier this year.
West's since-deleted image also took a swipe at Kid Cudi, who fell out with the "Heartless" rapper due to his friendship with Davidson.
"Kid Cudi meant to play funeral but fearful of bottle throwers," the subheadline of the fake newspaper read, referencing last month's Rolling Loud festival, where Cudi stormed off the stage after fans threw objects at him while he was performing.
Back in March, West dropped the official video for his song "Eazy," which raised eyebrows because it featured a cartoon version of Davidson being kidnapped, tied and buried alive.
West's social media antics eventually led to his Instagram account getting suspended for 24 hours in March for violating the platform's policies on hate speech, harassment and bullying.
He deleted all of his previous posts and went on hiatus from social media for four months. West only returned to the platform last month to pay tribute to his late mother, Donda West, on what would have been her 73rd birthday.
Kardashian and Davidson decided to part ways after the "distance" and their busy schedules made it difficult for them to maintain their relationship. Kardashian reportedly travels a lot, and he couldn't keep up with her due to his filming schedule. He is currently in Australia for a movie project.
"There truly wasn't drama between them when they decided to separate," an anonymous insider told Us Weekly of Kardashian and Davidson. "It was something they talked through; it wasn't a sudden breakup."
