Kim Kardashian, Pete Davidson Breakup: 'SNL' Star Knew 'It Wasn't Going To Work'
KEY POINTS
- Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian reportedly had known "for a while" that their relationship would not last
- Their busy schedules and the distance contributed to the split, according to reports
- The 41-year-old reality star reportedly feels "very sad" about the split
Pete Davidson reportedly wasn't shocked that his nine-month romance with Kim Kardashian didn't go the distance.
An unnamed "highly-placed" source exclusively told Page Six Monday that both stars are "bummed" about the split but that the 28-year-old "Saturday Night Live" alum had long predicted that his relationship with the 41-year-old "The Kardashians" star wasn't going to last.
"Pete knew it wasn't going to work," the insider told the outlet. "He'd been saying it for a while, and Kim knew it too."
The source continued, "The distance was a big thing, and next month Pete starts shooting his new show in NYC, and he's going to be busy with that."
Davidson will soon start filming his new show, "Bupkis," which "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels will produce for the Peacock streamer. The project is loosely based on the actor's life, and Edie Falco is set to play his mom.
In addition to their busy schedules, the former couple's age difference and the fact that Kardashian needed to be based in Los Angeles to run her businesses and take care of her four kids with ex-husband Kanye West were also factors that led to the breakup, Page Six reported.
But it seems that the Skims mogul is still not over the split as another unnamed source told the outlet that Kardashian is "very sad" and is having a hard time dealing with the breakup.
Kardashian and Davidson reportedly still "love and respect" each other, according to Page Six.
The reality star will always care for the comedian and "have his back," the second source told the outlet.
Before they called it quits, the pair reportedly enjoyed a romantic weekend together in Australia last month. Kardashian jetted off to the country to visit Davidson while he was filming his upcoming movie "Wizards!" there alongside Orlando Bloom, Naomi Scott, Sean Harris and Franz Rogowski.
Despite their efforts to make the relationship work, the "Kete" era has ended. Now, the beauty mogul is back to dealing with her ex-husband Kanye West's latest social media antics.
After news broke that Kardashian and Davidson called it quits, the 45-year-old rapper shared via Instagram an image of a fake New York Times front page with the headline, "Skete Davidson Dead at Age 28." The post was deleted Monday afternoon.
This wasn't the first time that the "Gold Digger" singer had openly dissed Davidson, whom he dubbed "Skete" during their one-sided feud earlier this year. West previously released a music video for his track "Eazy" showing the rapper kidnapping and burying a cartoon version of the comedian.
"Kanye is back to his old ways, and Kim will not tolerate his bullying behavior toward the people she loves and cares about," an unnamed source told Page Six, adding that the move reinforces "why there will never be a chance of reconciliation" between West and his estranged wife.
Kardashian filed for divorce from the rapper back in February 2021. They were declared legally single in March.
