Porn Star Siri Dahl Says OnlyFans Was 'Built, Popularized By Sex Workers'
KEY POINTS

- Like Bella Thorne, she is one of the top earners on the platform
- The adult star admitted that she fears OnlyFans will eventually ban adult content on its platform
Porn star Siri Dahl, famously known as Siri, admitted she is worried about OnlyFans constantly changing the terms and conditions of the subscription platform, fearing that it will eventually lead to a ban on adult content.
Dahl, who is one of the top earners of OnlyFans like Bella Thorne, told The Wrap that around 75% to 80% of her income is from her content on OnlyFans. As such, she understands how it can be scary for content creators and sex workers to that the platform to see the platform regularly and quietly changing its terms of use.
“There’s anxiety that comes along with anyone who relies on OnlyFans,” Dahl said.
The constant updating of the guidelines is more stressful for top earners like her, who belong in the top 0.36% of creators in OnlyFans. In fact, the porn star is terrified that the site will completely get rid of adult content creators in the future.
“I will have actual nightmares that they have stopped allowing sex workers to use the platform, for example. Like just gone straight into censorship,” Dahl shared.
She insisted that the platform benefits from them as much as they benefit from the website, saying, “OnlyFans would not exist (without sex workers ).”
However, Dahl also expressed disappointment that the company refuses to accept this fact.
“The platform was pretty much built by sex workers, popularized by sex workers, yet OnlyFans has never truly openly acknowledged that this platform is serving mostly sex workers and their fans,” she said.
Among the new rules OnlyFans set is a $50 cap on pay-per-view posts, down from $200, on accounts with no subscription fee.
OnlyFans also lowered the maximum tip a new creator can receive to $100 from the previous $200, though it will go back to the old max after four months. This came after tweets circulated alleging Thorne was selling a pay-per-view “nude” for $200 but failed to deliver on this promise, causing numerous subscribers to request refunds.
“The limiting the tip amount to $100 is obviously problematic for a lot of people,” Dahl said, though she explained that it won't affect her as much as it will other content creators on the site.
Dahl explained that many people, apart from Thorne, make thousands of dollars every week from the platform, though an OnlyFans spokesperson confirmed that the company keeps 20% of the earnings of content creators.
The porn star admits that the change is “problematic” and would affect many content creators. “But I know that there are girls who do rely on that, and that would greatly affect them,” Dahl said.
OnlyFans also pushed back payouts from seven to 21 days in other countries.
