‘Power’ Season 5 Spoilers: Episode 5 Synopsis Released; Watch ‘Happy Birthday’ Promo

Ghost is still having difficulty dealing with Raina’s death, and on “Power” Season 5, episode 5, he will struggle to maintain control over both his emotions and his business partners.

“The St. Patricks celebrate Tariq’s (Michael Rainey Jr.) birthday without Raina (Donshea Hopkins),” the synopsis for “Happy Birthday” teases.

Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and Tasha (Naturi Naughton) haven’t properly mourned Raina’s death, and now they will be forced to celebrate her birthday without her.

Even though Tariq’s twin sister is dead, the family still attempts to make the day special. In the Starz promo, Ghost tells Reverend Macedon (Chuck Cooper) bad things happen when he lets go. The reverend then recites a verse from the Bible that advises not to avenge oneself, but to instead leave vengeance to the wrath of God.

Although Ghost appears to be seeking religious advice, chances are he is going to continue to take justice into his own hands rather than wait around for the universe to take action.

“Ghost is on the outs with Tate (Larenz Tate) and learns Dre (Rotimi) is ready to replace him in the legitimate world,” the synopsis for “Power” Season 5, episode 5, says.

In the promo video for “Happy Birthday,” Ghost learns Tate plans to bring Dre in as a permanent presence in their business. Ghost has been doing his best to acquire a clean public image and start a charity dedicated in Raina’s memory.

However, now that Tate is forcing Ghost to work with the man he believes is responsible for his daughter’s death, he begins to realize the other man was never on his side.

On top of dealing with Tate’s betrayal, Ghost may also have to watch his back when it comes to the streets. Although Tommy (Joseph Sikora) is eager to kill Dre, Ghost believes an attack would make them look guilty.

In the Starz promo video, Kanan (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson) tells Tommy that Ghost has tricked him into believing he can’t do anything without him. Even though Ghost is trying to be smart about their strategy, Tommy may allow Kanan to manipulate him into making a deadly mistake.

Will Ghost be able to stop Tommy from deviating from their plan or will he be too distracted by his hate for Dre to realize his life is close to spiraling out of control?

“Power” Season 5, episode 5 airs Sunday at 8 p.m. EDT on Starz.
