Powerball Numbers, Beyonce, Michael Phelps, Meghan Markle and More Top List Of Google Searches in 2016
The most searched thing Americans Googled in 2016 wasn’t Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump--it was the Powerball.
Google released its annual list of things people most searched for throughout the year.
The top 5 in the U.S. were the Powerball, followed by superstar Prince, who died in April, Hurricane Matthew, Pokémon Go and video game Slither.io.
The actor most googled was Brad Pitt, who separated from his wife Angelina Jolie this year, and the most searched actress on Google was Meghan Markle, who is allegedly Prince Harry’s new girlfriend. Beyonce was the No.1 googled musician, with her song ‘Formation’ also the most searched.
The top athlete searched on Google in the U.S. was Olympic champion Michael Phelps, followed by Ryan Lochte and Simone Biles. Meanwhile, the most searched meme was Harambe, the gorilla who was shot and killed after a boy fell into the animal’s enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo.
People around the world, however, were mostly interested in Pokemon Go. The popular app was the most searched thing globally, followed by the iPhone 7, Donald Trump, Prince and Powerball.
