Premier League Rumors: Real Madrid Needs Almost $80M To Get Man City Forward
KEY POINTS
- Ferran Torres is unlikely to leave Manchester City anytime soon
- Torres continues his rehab after suffering an injury
- Real Madrid's chances of acquiring Torres may have just been doused
Manchester City has reportedly informed Real Madrid how much it would cost to get Ferran Torres from their clutches.
According to Defensa Central, it would take roughly £58 million ($80 million) for Los Blancos to secure the services of the Spanish forward.
The development comes not long after the 21-year-old has been somehow missing in action for the Sky Blues. He arrived in 2020 but has since played only 43 games for the Sky Blues.
In those 43 appearances, Torres managed to score 16 times to go with four assists. However, the scores of the Spanish forward are notably timely for the Citizens.
Regardless if he has been used sparingly, it appears to be no indication that Manchester City will allow Torres to move easily. He remains a potent part of the club’s roster, having produced goals every two games.
Aside from that, Torres is still young and someone who can still evolve into someone big for Pep Guardiola.
He may not be given proper recognition and chances at the moment, but critics feel that he will eventually get there.
Seeing Torres move to Real Madrid makes sense considering his nationality. He is one of Spain’s up-and-coming talent, easily backing why seeing him join Los Blancos makes plenty of sense.
But unless Real Madrid can fulfill the asking fee of the Citizens, a move out of the Manchester City of Manchester Stadium will be up in the air.
So far, Torres has had a strong start in the current season while playing center-forward. He has two goals and an assist to his credit in three Premier League outings.
But his playing time dwindled when Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne returned from injury. He has not been featured since September when the Sky Blues won over Leicester City, 1-0.
The last time Torres saw action was during the Carabo Cup before the international break. Manchester City won handily over Wycombe, 6-1.
He suffered an injury during international play, something that sidelined him for up to three months.
According to Manchester Evening News, the 21-year-old suffered a metatarsal problem. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and appears to be on schedule to make a return to full health.
In the last update on Torres, he was seen working on his upper body strength in a Spanish facility through an image shared that was posted by Leaderbrock Sports.
He is likely to be sidelined until 2021 comes to a close.
