PREVIEW: More Melo as Knicks Face Lowly Cleveland (Tonight; Tip off: 7:45 PM; TV: MSG)
Still on a high from acquiring superstar forward Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks travel to Cleveland to face Baron Davis and the Cavaliers.
The Cavaliers have the worst record in the NBA but they hope to change that with the addition of Davis.
A star before he joined the Clippers, Davis has struggled through injuries and playing for an organization where he had young standouts in Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin, and perhaps was stuck playing a style of basketball that was not conducive to his style of play.
He makes his debut with Cleveland tonight, as Anthony makes his road debut with the Knicks.
New York is fighting for a better seed in the playoffs, and perhaps to advance to the Eastern Conference Semi-finals or beyond.
The Cavaliers, on the other hand, are trying to avoid a worse season than the New Jersey Nets had last season. These are tough times in the post-LeBron era for Cleveland, who lost Anderson Varejao for most of the season due to injury.
The Knicks will look to capitalize on the momentum of Wednesday night's exciting win over the Milwaukee Bucks at Madison Square Garden, and not look ahead too much to Sunday's game in Miami on national television.
Anthony scored 27 points and 10 rebounds in his debut, and his teammate in Denver, Chauncey Billups, added 21 points and eight assists.
