Prince Andrew May Have Become Queen’s Favorite Child Following This Incident, Fan Claims
Prince Andrew and Queen Elizabeth II have a close and unique relationship with each other. As such, some royal fans are convinced that Prince Andrew is the Queen’s favorite child.
On the online forum site Quora, royal fans weighed in on how and when they think Her Majesty realized that her third child is unlike Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince Edward.
Justin Mihalik, a teacher of social sciences, said that the idea of Prince Andrew as the Queen’s favorite child may have come from a moment in the victory parade after the Falklands War.
“He cheekily offered her a rose he had clenched between his teeth as she passed, and Her Majesty appeared to be amused rather than offended,” he wrote.
Mihalik also said that the Queen already realized that Prince Andrew was her favorite child after he was born. Prince Andrew is the most good looking among his siblings, and he was also able to make the monarch smile.
But another royal fan challenged Mihalik by questioning whether or not Prince Andrew is really the Queen’s favorite son. Susan Weber said that it is highly unlikely for mothers to play favorites. And if they do, they do not normally reveal their preference out loud.
Meanwhile, royal historian Piers Brendon also said in the documentary “Paxman on the Queen’s Children” that Prince Andrew is his mom’s favorite. Her Majesty’s third child also pleased Prince Philip due to his enthusiasm to serve the country even though he will never become King.
“Andy skipped university and went straight to naval college, which went down well with his naval officer father. He completed the Marines Commando course just to show he could, before qualifying as a helicopter pilot… Then, age 22, he fought in the Falklands,” Brendon said.
Prince Andrew is also very different from his brothers because of his playboy image. Prince Charles is best known for his scandalous affair, while Prince Edward is known for his happy marriage.
