Prince Andrew may have just followed in Prince Charles's footsteps by not listening to palace advisers regarding his interview.

While speaking with BBC, royal expert Dickie Arbiter accused the Duke of York of bulldozing and deciding on his own to give an interview to Emily Maitlis.

“Any sensible-thinking person in the PR business would have thrown their hands up in horror at the very suggestion that he puts himself up in front of a television camera to explain away his actions and his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein,” he said.

Royal author Angela Levin echoed Arbiter’s sentiments by saying that Queen Elizabeth must have been embarrassed by her son’s interview. Levin also said that she knows Prince Andrew doesn’t listen to his advisers.

However, the dad of two isn’t the first member of the royal family to go rogue. In 1994, Prince Charles also gave an interview to Jonathan Dimbleby even after Prince Philip and the Queen advised him against it.

During their conversation, Prince Charles confirmed that he was having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. But he also said that the affair started only after he realized that his marriage to Princess Diana could no longer be saved.

In the book “The Firm,” royal author Penny Junor revealed that the Duke of Edinburgh was incensed by Prince Charles’ decision to sit down for an interview. The royal family was also flabbergasted by the interview and the Queen’s advisers and courtiers were stunned.

“The blame fell squarely on (private secretary) Richard Aylard for having allowed Charles to make what many regarded as the worst mistake of his life. At the time many people thought it might cost him the throne,” Junor said.

Junor also spoke to the Queen’s former press secretary and was told that it was hard to give advice to the heir to the throne. The royal source added that the interview was regarded as a huge mistake at Buckingham Palace.

“The Duke of Edinburgh was livid at the whole thing, though it was disgusting and so infantile,” he said.
