Prince Charles' 70th birthday portraits have just been released, and they are similar to photoshoots that featured Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II.

The recent family photo of Prince Charles was taken by Getty photographer Chris Jackson in the gardens of Clarence House. In the snap, Prince Charles is sitting on a bench beside Camilla Parker Bowles. Prince George is on his lap, while Princess Charlotte is sitting beside Bowles.

Behind the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are Kate Middleton, who is carrying Prince Louis, Prince William, who is standing beside his wife, Prince Harry, who is standing behind Bowles, and his wife Meghan Markle. One of the photos is a formal snap, while the other one is a bit informal that saw Markle laughing hysterically.

Harper’s Bazaar noted how Prince Charles’ recent photos resembled a snap of the future King with Princess Diana and Prince William in 1983. At that time, the trio also sat on a bench, but they were photographed outside Kensington Palace and not outside Clarence House.

An adorable young Prince William is wearing a navy blue overall and standing in between his parents. Prince Charles and Princess Diana are looking intently at their firstborn.

The following year, the trio once again posed outside Kensington Palace. But this time around, Princess Diana is wearing a striking pink dress. Prince William is in his baby blue jumper, and Prince Charles is in his usual suit.

And many years ago, Queen Elizabeth II also had a photo shoot with her two eldest children at Balmoral Castle. The black and white snap taken in 1952 shows the Queen sitting on a bench. Standing beside her is Princess Anne and sitting on her left side is Prince Charles.

In related news, Jackson opened up about taking Prince Charles’ recent family portraits.

“I was delighted to have been asked to take these official portraits of the Prince of Wales surrounded by his family to celebrate the important milestone of his 70th birthday. It was particularly special to capture such an informal and relaxed family portrait over a fun afternoon!” he said.
