Prince Charles Deems Sexual Allegation Charges Against Prince Andrew 'Unsolvable': Report
Prince Charles reportedly thinks Prince Andrew's sexual allegation cases are "unsolvable."
In an interview this week, the Prince of Wales allegedly said his brother might no longer be able to return to royal life as he faces growing scrutiny over sexual abuse allegations.
On Monday, Prince Andrew was sued in a federal court in New York for sex crimes, including the alleged sex trafficking of a teen girl by his friend and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. With Prince Andrew's legal troubles piling up, a royal family source told Times that Charles believes his brother's position in the monarchy is "unrecoverable."
"This will be unwelcome reputational damage to the institution of the monarchy," the source told the outlet.
The insider added that while Prince Charles "loves his brother and has the ability to have sympathy for the slings and arrows that his brother endures," he "long ago concluded that it is probably an unsolvable problem."
"This will probably further strengthen in the prince's mind that a way back for the duke is demonstrably not possible, because the specter of this accusation raises its head with hideous regularity," added the source.
Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who previously claimed she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew three times between 1999 and 2002, filed a lawsuit against the prince on Monday in New York under the Child Victims Act.
"As the suit lays out in detail, I was trafficked to him and sexually abused by him. I am holding Prince Andrew accountable for what he did to me. The powerful and rich are not exempt from being held responsible for their actions," she told People.
In November 2019, Prince Andrew announced he was stepping down from his royal duties over his association with Epstein. He said at the time that the Epstein sex trafficking scandal had become a "major disruption" to the royal family.
