Prince Charles Made This Move In A ‘Bid For Acceptance’; ‘Interesting’ Experience
Prince Charles made a particular move to be accepted.
According to an ITV documentary, the Prince of Wales attended a Welsh university in a “bid for acceptance.” Prince Charles was made the Prince of Wales back in 1958 in a ceremony in Caernarfon Castle. So studying in Wales is significant for the royal who described his experienced there as “interesting,” Express reported.
“So he enrolls in the most Welsh of universities,” the narrator in the ITV documentary “Charles: 50 Years a Prince” said. “It’s a bid for acceptance.”
Initially, Prince Charles attended Cambridge University and studied anthropology, archeology and history. In his second year, he headed to the University College of Wales in Aberystwyth and studied history and language. Although the future king would go back to Cambridge, his time in the west coast village was deemed important.
Prince Charles revealed on the show that he found a lot of support from “splendid middle-aged ladies.” However, outside the area, there were a lot of “hotbed of radicals” who objected of English-born Prince Charles being made the Prince of Wales. While in the area, he stayed in halls of residence right next to a Welsh nationalist.
“Every day I had to go down to the town where I went to these lectures, and most days there seemed to be a demonstration going on against me,” Prince Charles recalled.
“With a counter demonstration usually by splendid middle-aged ladies who got out of a bus. Anyway, that was an interesting experience.”
In the black and white footage, a group of young males shared their thoughts why Prince Charles was so popular with the ladies. One laughed saying that his car was the “biggest draw” because the ladies liked a sports car.
Prince Charles admitted that he tried to speak Welsh especially when he visits the country. In fact, he can count Aberystwyth. However, he also confessed that it wasn’t easy because he was not a brilliant linguist.
In related news, Prince Charles was recently involved in a major counterfeit art scandal. It was learned that some of the artworks at the Dumfries House were fake.
