Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall recently met the stars of "EastEnders."

On Thursday, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visited the England set of the long-running popular BBC drama, where they met actors and crew members and watched as they filmed a special scene tied to Queen Elizabeth.

The cast filmed scenes that feature the residents of Albert Square celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee at a street party, People reported.

A video and photos of their visit to the "EastEnders" set were shared via the royal couple's official Twitter account. The series, which first aired in 1985 and is set in the fictional borough of Walford, is the longest-running television drama on the BBC, according to the post.

"EastEnders" has "created some of the most talked-about moments in British TV and has tackled a range of issues, helping to raise awareness and discussion," the caption read.

During their visit, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla chatted with Gillian Taylforth, who has appeared on the show since its premiere, and Rose Ayling-Ellis, People reported.

Prince Charles reportedly showed his knowledge of the show's storylines when he talked about how one of the series' beloved couples are no longer together. Camilla also revealed that the royal family rooted for Ayling-Ellis when she competed in "Strictly Come Dancing," according to the outlet.

At one point, Prince Charles took off his coat to offer it to a freezing Letitia Dean, who plays Sharon Watts in the TV series.

"Today was a very special day for all at 'EastEnders.' As a company, we are all incredibly proud of the show we make, but to have a visit from the royal family makes it all the more special," Dean was quoted as saying by People of their close encounter with the future British king and queen consort.

She continued, "To have the opportunity to mark the Queen's upcoming Platinum Jubilee with a visit from The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall was just beautiful and it will go down in 'EastEnders' history, but it was made all the more special for me when The Prince of Wales handed me his coat to keep me warm – what a gentleman, what a couple, what as we say in 'EastEnders' a proper family."

The "EastEnders'" official Twitter account also shared a clip documenting the royals' set visit. The short video showed how excited the cast members were to meet Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla.

"We at 'EastEnders' are all so incredibly grateful that The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall came to visit 'EastEnders' as we filmed our special episode that shows the residents of Albert Square celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, just as those around the country will be doing this summer," executive producer Chris Clenshaw said about the royal visit.

He continued, "We cannot thank them enough for taking the time to come to Walford, this is one moment that will go down in 'EastEnders' history as we all celebrate 70 years of Her Majesty's reign. Today was truly an honor."

Meanwhile, the Queen is gearing up for her Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June, a long weekend of public events marking her 70th year on the throne.

The planned festivities include Trooping the Colour, the lighting of Platinum Jubilee beacons, a service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral, the Derby at Epsom Downs, a live concert called "Platinum Party at the Palace," the Big Jubilee Lunch and the Platinum Jubilee Pageant.
