Prince Charles Wears Traditional Tartan Kilt During Annual Visit To Scotland
Prince Charles set foot in Scotland last weekend, and he was photographed wearing a traditional tartan kilt.
The 69-year-old future king paired his attire with a tie and a smart suit jacket. He also wore knee-high red socks and black shoes. Prince Charles, who is known as the Duke of Rothesay when he is in Scotland, also visited the Canisbay Church in Caithness, the most northerly parish church in Scotland, according to Daily Mail.
Prince Charles’ late grandmother, Queen Mother, bought the Castle of May in 1952, and this gave her direct links to Caithness. Every year, Prince Charles heads to Scotland after being picked as chieftain of the Mey Highland and Cultural Games. Before her death, Queen Mother went to Scotland annually.
Camilla Parker Bowles’ husband was also seen chatting with acting minister Lyall Rennie, and he was also photographed with locals outside of the church.
Meanwhile, Prince Charles is believed to be on a summer break after attending his last official engagement with Bowles earlier this month. At that time, the royal couple went to the Sandringham Flower Show. As such, Prince Charles’ sighting in Scotland may have been done out of his personal preference and not as an official visit.
Bowles did not join Prince Charles on his Scotland trip because she immediately went on vacation with her grandchildren in their Scottish estate.
In related news, Prince Charles also made headlines recently after former royal butler Paul Burrell said that he doesn’t think he is fit to become king. Burrell seconded Princess Diana’s statement when she was still alive.
“I don’t think we will ever see King Charles and Queen Camilla on the throne of England. I know it’s his right, I know he’s heir to the throne, I know he’s waited his whole life to do it [but] his own wife said, ‘My husband is not fit for the top job.’ Diana said that. I don’t think he will get there… I think, for the sake of the monarchy – by the time Charles gets there, he’s going to be 80,” Burrell said (via Express).
