Prince George Could Receive This Honor That Prince William Wasn’t Entitled To
Prince George could reportedly receive a huge honor when he becomes a monarch that Prince William was not entitled to.
If Prince George would have a daughter for his first child in the future, his daughter could be the first ever female royal to be given the title of Princess of Wales. This is because of the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, which changed some royal laws.
For the first time in British history, the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013 meant that male heirs no longer take precedence over their sisters in the line of succession. This means that if Prince George’s first child is a girl, she would be given the title and would also become in line to the throne.
Until today, there has never been a Princess of Wales in her own right. What usually happens is the title is bestowed on the wife of the current of Prince Wales. The same thing happened when Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, wed Princess Diana. The latter became known as the Princess of Wales.
However, after Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced, the latter was stripped of her HRH title. She was simply referred to as Princess Diana. Prince Charles still holds the title and uses it on certain occasions.
Meanwhile, Prince William didn’t become entitled to the same privilege even though Prince George was born in 2013 after the Succession to the Crown Act was passed. This is because the Duke of Cambridge’s eldest child is a boy and as such, he is third in line to the throne.
Princess Charlotte somewhat benefited from the change in the royal law. Even though she’s a girl, she will take precedence over her younger brother, Prince Louis. If the law wasn’t passed before she was born, Prince Louis would’ve taken precedence over Princess Charlotte in the line of succession for the simple reason that she’s not a boy.
