Prince Harry Continues Princess Diana’s HIV Legacy By Doing This
Prince Harry is continuing his late mother Princess Diana’s HIV legacy.
The 33-year-old Duke of Sussex attended the International Aids conference in Amsterdam. While there, the prince joined more than 15,000 scientists, activists, health providers, policy makers, and global leaders in the largest gathering on HIV and AIDS across the globe.
In the 1980s, Princess Diana made headlines for being the first member of the royal family to have a direct contact with a person suffering from HIV. At that time, there was a still a misconception suggesting that HIV and AIDS may be acquired through casual contact.
On Monday, members of Prince Harry’s charity Sentebale spoke to decision makers and financial backers about what is needed to help reverse the trend in HIV infections. The Duke also joined a session at the conference where youth delegates from different countries talked about how AIDS has affected them.
In related news, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, made headlines after it was reported that they received a new property from Queen Elizabeth II. According to People, Her Majesty gave her grandson and Markle the Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, and this will be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s second home.
Prior to their May 19 wedding, Markle already moved into Prince Harry’s Nottingham Cottage home inside the Kensington Palace compound. Nottingham Cottage boasts two rooms in a 1,300-square-foot space.
Meanwhile, the Adelaide Cottage is the former residence of Peter Townsend, the lover of the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret. The property features a marble Greco-Egyptian fireplace and the main bedroom featuring a coved ceiling with gilded dolphins and rope ornament used from the royal yacht Royal George.
Adelaide Cottage is located within the grounds of Windsor Castle, a place that’s close to Prince Harry and Markle’s hearts. Kensington Palace previously said, “Windsor is a very special place for Prince Harry, and he and Ms. Markle have regularly spent time there during the last year.”
