Prince Harry Copying Prince William's Parenting Style, Won't Expose Child To Spotlight
Prince Harry will reportedly look to his older brother Prince William, who has three children with Kate Middleton, for some parenting advice.
Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle are expected to welcome their first child in the coming weeks, so this will be new territory for both of them. However, the first-time father has his older brother to help him out when it comes to tips on raising a child.
Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe revealed on the ITV documentary "Secrets of the Royal Babies: Meghan and Harry," which aired on Monday, that Princes William and Harry act as role models to each other. And since Prince William and his wife are hands-on parents, it is very likely that Prince Harry will follow his lead.
"Harry tends to follow in his brother’s footsteps and weirdly William tends to follow in Harry’s footsteps. They are mentors to each other," the biographer explained.
"So I would expect when Harry becomes a dad he will look at Kate and William’s example and follow that almost to the letter," he continued.
Larcombe, who has written biographies on Prince Harry, also recalled that Princess Diana had tried her best to give her two sons a "normal and private life." Prince William and Middleton did the same with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who rarely appear in events and in the papers. The Duchess of Cambridge even takes her own photos of their children to hand out for use.
"Diana made sure William and Harry lived as much as a normal life as possible and as parents William and Harry will always be influenced by their mother," Larcombe said. "Her desire to give them a taste of normality runs through the veins of William and Harry."
Prince Harry and Markle seem to have already taken steps to shield their child from the spotlight with their move to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, according to Daily Mail.
Royal commentator Ingrid Seward also touched on Prince William being a hands-on parent, revealing that he "changed nappies and got up in the night to do feeds, school pick-up and bath time/ tea time."
Like Prince William and Middleton, Prince Harry and Markle are likely to be hands-on parents as well, according to Seward, especially since the pregnant duchess "does all of the cooking and have a minimal team of staff."
