Prince Harry as King of Canada; Royalists ask for permanent royal presence
Canadian royalists are asking for the installation of Prince Harry as their king in a bid to silence those who believe that the country should have an elected head of state.
They want Prince Harry, who is third in line to the throne, to permanently move to Ottawa so that there is a permanent royal presence in the Commonwealth country.
As per some recent opinion polls, a certain section of the Canadian population apparently wants the country to become a republic.
Royalists also have suggested a second option of Duke William, when he becomes the king, to live six months in Canada, six in Australia, and six in London.
Prince Harry, who has virtually no chance of becoming king, could set himself up here and found a Canadian branch of the Royal family, the Telegraph UK quoted Etienne Boisvert, the Quebec provincial spokesman for the Monarchist League of Canada stating. He further said that now is the right time for the Royal Family to reinvent itself.
The suggestion was made as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge prepare for their visit to Canada this week and are likely to be met with some form of opposition from republican supporters and French-speaking separatists in Quebec.
