Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were publicly booed on their recent engagement.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are back in the U.K. days before their official reunion with the rest of the members of the royal family for the Commonwealth service. On Thursday, Prince Harry and Markle stepped out together for their first engagement after they announced their exit.

The royal couple attended the Endeavour Fund Awards at Mansion House in London. Markle was stunning in her blue dress and Prince Harry was dapper in his matching blue suit.

Mirror shared a clip of the royal couple’s arrival. The crowd was cheering the Sussexes, but one onlooker shouted and booed Prince Harry and Markle. The publication noted that the couple did not let it spoil the mood. Markle even told the audience that it was “nice to be back.”

Meanwhile, the Twitter users were not surprised that the couple was booed. In fact, many wanted Prince Harry and Markle to be booed on the said outing.

“Whoever booed harry and Meghan markle, thank you! These two are disgusting waste of your taxes and betrayed your trust. Strip them of their titles and all funding. #megxit,” @GossDarla one wrote on Twitter.

“Hope meagain gets booed,” one online user wrote days before the Sussexes’ royal engagement.

“Of course they were going to get a ‘Boo’ they ditched UK ... but how restrained the people were (so British),” @CherieJameson commented.

“Rightly so!!! Why are they here anyway? They wanted out they should be getting out. End of story,” @STELLA12467827 opined.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry delivered a moving speech at the event. Prince William’s brother started his speech by expressing his joy to be back in the U.K. with his wife. He also thanked everyone who supported him.

Prince Harry then spoke about serving the Queen and the country. The duke said he was very proud to serve the monarchy and hinted that he would always be in service even after their exit because according to his words, “Once served, always serving.”
