Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly taking the attention away from Prince Charles and Prince William’s more important work.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the royals fans with their ITV documentary in which they got emotional. As a result, some felt that they undermined Prince Charles’ work in Tokyo. Meanwhile, others believed that their interview also overshadowed Prince William and Kate Middleton’s achievement in their last days in Pakistan.

“The same with William and Kate being in Pakistan – there’s been little press coverage on that because Harry and Meghan have taken the attention away from that, too,” E! News chief correspondent Melanie Bromley said. “That’s been, in the past, seen as a no-no. You allow each member of the Royal Family, they have their time, they’ve each their own causes and things that are close to their heart. It’s kind of, ‘now it’s your turn, now you go on a royal tour, now you will,’ and Harry and Meghan have really taken over.”

A source also claimed that Prince Harry and Markle single-handedly modernized the royal family, which upset many people. A different source said that Queen Elizabeth II is the most modernizing monarch the institution has ever had.

The online user added that it was the Queen who modernized the monarchy from a medieval organization to a modern one with the help of her husband, Prince Philip. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh broadcast their coronation and even did the first-ever reality series on TV. They also opened Buckingham Palace for the public.

Bromley also suggested that more attention should be given to the heir apparent and Duke of Cambridge because they are the two royals who are closest to the throne.

“Harry’s work is important but for the stability and the future of the Royal Family, it could be argued that Charles’ work, as well as William’s work, is more important. Because this isn’t a family that is in power because they’ve been voted in but because they are just there,” Bromley added.
