Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's Matchmaker Identified After Engagement Announcement?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle first met during a blind date, but who exactly set the two up?
In a recent interview with BBC, the "Suits" star confessed that someone set them up for a blind date in London in 2016. Markle said she barely knew Prince Harry and even asked the friend who played cupid if he was nice. "The only thing I had asked her when she said she wanted to set us up, was 'was he nice?' If he wasn't kind, it didn't seem like it would make sense," Prince Harry's fiancée said.
During the interview, the couple opted not to name their matchmaker to protect her privacy. "We should protect her privacy and not reveal too much of that," Markle said.
"We'll protect her privacy yeah. And...it was through her and then we met once and then twice back to back two dates in London, last July," Prince Harry agreed.
Despite Prince Harry and Markle's refusal to reveal the name, there have been many speculations as to who set them up. Based on their statements, their matchmaker is a woman. According to E! News, the mysterious person could be Misha Nonoo.
The "Horrible Bosses" star spent a lot of time with Nonoo and Markus Anderson over the summer in 2016, which was the same time she was introduced to Prince Harry. In fact, Markle shared a snap of their reunion on Instagram in August 2016. "Tapas con mis amigos @mishanonoo @anderson_markus #spain #madrid #eatpraylove #MMMinMadrid," Markle wrote in the caption.
Prince Harry and Markle also said that their matchmaker is a common friend. Nonoo is a fashion designer who married Alexander Gilkes, a friend of Prince William and Prince Harry, in 2012.
Last month, in an interview with Evening Standard, Nonoo was asked if she set up Prince Harry and Markle. The New York-based fashion designer chose not to answer the question. "I really can't answer that," she said with a laugh.
However, when asked about her relationship with Markle, Nonoo had nothing but praise to say about the actress. "Oh yes, I love her to death. She is the coolest girl in the world," the designer said about the "Remember Me" star.
When Markle and Prince Harry made their first public appearance as a couple at the 2017 Invictus Games in September, the actress wore one of Nonoo's creations, a white button-down shirt that has been dubbed as the "husband shirt," which was immediately sold out when her photos were published.
"I had no idea she was going to wear it," Nonoo told ES. "It was a beautiful surprise and I was touched. The exposure has been incredible."
