Prince Harry ‘Projecting’ Mom Onto Meghan Markle, Duchess Pushed Harry’s Princess Diana ‘Buttons’?

Prince Harry has been accused of projecting his late mother, Princess Diana, onto his wife, Meghan Markle. But at least one royal fan is convinced that it could also be the other way around.

On the online forum site Quora, royal fan Deanna Eppers said that the Duke of Sussex is projecting Princess Diana onto the Duchess of Sussex in some ways but not entirely.

“From what Prince Harry said in the documentary of his and Meghan’s travels through Africa, he still has flashbacks to the days when his mother, Diana, was hounded by the paparazzi. By his own account, Harry has not fully recovered from his mum’s death or even her life. Harry hasn’t found a meaningful measure of peace in his own life yet, because his mom faced merciless intrusion by the paparazzi,” she said.

But it is also important to note that Princess Diana didn’t want to have her own protection officers, and she didn’t also want to be followed by them. The late royal didn’t want Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth to know her whereabouts at all times. Princess Diana may have wanted privacy for personal reasons, but she was also the most photographed woman in the world when she was still alive, and she needed to have protection.

“That’s kind of where Prince Harry comes in. He repeatedly mentioned his need to protect his family. His wife and his son. He kept repeating the thought of him not protecting his family enough. There’s a bit of a disconnect there. Prince William is the one who is hounded more, because he is the one who will be king, and William seems fairly comfortable in public,” she said.

Royal fan Claire Chase said that it’s the other way around. Markle tapped into her husband’s protective nature and she pressed his Princess Diana buttons. The royal fan also questioned Prince Harry’s decision to release a statement urging the paparazzi to stop hounding his wife when he could have just paid for more security.

“Meghan pushed his Diana buttons. She made Harry think if his mother had been alive, she would be just like Meghan…fighting the good fight. He said it ‘they would be thick as thieves,’” she said.
