Prince Harry admitted that he felt ‘greater pressure’ to help in maintaining the environment after he became a dad.
The Duke of Sussex wrote a letter for African Parks’ annual report on the world’s current extinction crisis and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prince Harry is the president of African Parks. The non-government organization has partnered with the government on the long-term management of National Parks to save wildlife and help local communities.
It is widely known that Prince Harry loves Africa. In fact, it was among the first places where he took Markle when they were still dating and after they got married.
In his letter shared by royal correspondent Omid Scobie on Twitter, Prince Harry talked about his fondness for Africa and how he wanted to keep returning to the continent for its wildlife, people and vast expanse. The royal also stated his commitment to doing his part in protecting the place.
“I am hugely grateful for their clarity of purpose and am more motivated than ever to do all I can to advance the mission of protecting wild places, for wildlife, for people and for generations to come,” Prince Harry wrote.
The duke added that he is more determined to accomplish the mission to ensure that the new generation will get to see the things that he loves about Africa. Furthermore, being a dad put more pressure on Prince Harry because he wants Archie and his future children to know that he has done his part in restoring the ecosystems.
“Since becoming a father, I feel the pressure is even greater to ensure we can give our children the future they deserve, a future that hasn’t been taken from them, and a future full of possibility and opportunity,” he wrote.
“I want us all to be able to tell our children that yes, we saw this coming, and with the determination and help from an extraordinary group of committed individuals, we did what was needed to restore these essential ecosystems.”
Prince Harry and Markle are very protective of Archie. In fact, they refused to give him a royal title. Moreover, they decided to keep him out of the royal spotlight by moving to the United States after deciding to step back from their royal duties.
Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly want to launch themselves into the corporate world after their U.S. move. According to royal editor Russell Myers, they could potentially make millions of pounds for a single gig. However, all their plans are in tatters due to the pandemic.
