Prince Harry made a sweet gesture to his wife Meghan Markle to make her feel more "comfortable" during Queen Elizabeth II's funeral Monday.
Following the service, a funeral guest revealed how the Duke of Sussex supported his wife during the state funeral for the late monarch at Westminster Abbey in London.
"You saw the reassurance that Harry was giving to Meghan at times when they were walking together and had to go in their different directions," attorney Pranav Bhanot told People.
"I noticed just how supportive Harry was to Meghan," he continued. "When they went their separate directions after the ceremony, he gave her a firm squeeze of the hand. I felt he wanted to ensure she felt comfortable."
Both Prince Harry and Markle got emotional during the service. The former "Suits" star was seen wiping away tears as Queen Elizabeth II's coffin was transferred into a hearse at Wellington Arch.
Body language expert Judi James told Page Six that Prince Harry appeared to be struggling the most during the service.
"Walking beside, but a large distance apart from his brother [Prince William], his puckered brows and rapid blinking suggested the onset of tears," James pointed out. "When he watched the coffin being unloaded there was the sucking in of the lips, rocking from side to side and shoulder roll that he had performed before to suggest he was bracing himself emotionally."
The expert described Markle's body language during the funeral as "understated" and suggested that the duchess "seemed to offer a continuation of that silent support to her husband while sitting and walking with a look of dignity tinged with sadness."
Though the couple appeared to touch hands as they walked together out of the service, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — who received flak for their PDA during the procession transporting Queen Elizabeth II's coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall last week — kept their hand-holding to a "minimum" during Monday's procession and funeral, James noted.
Following the state funeral, Prince Harry and Markle sat next to Prince William, Kate Middleton and their two older children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, at the committal ceremony for the late monarch at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Britain's longest reigning monarch was buried in the King George VI Memorial Chapel in St George's Chapel Monday evening.
The Sussexes were already in Europe for a series of charity events when Queen Elizabeth II died at her Scottish residence, Balmoral Castle, at the age of 96 on Sept. 8.
The couple extended their stay following the late monarch's death, but they plan to fly back to California right after the funeral to reunite with their children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, Us Weekly reported.
