Prince Philip contracted a “mysterious” illness during an overseas royal trip.

The 97-year-old royal has already retired. However, prior to that, Prince Philip was Queen Elizabeth II’s constant companion in various royal excursions worldwide. The Duke of Edinburgh accompanied the monarch in different countries including Australia, Pakistan and India.

According to royal biographer Robert Hardman, Prince Philip joined the Queen in an official visit to India in the 1960s. The duke was invited to a host of animal shoots and hunting excursions which caused outrage back in Britain.

The main event included the shooting of a tigress and everyone was anticipating it. Prince Philip was given the honor to do it, but he contracted a mysterious infection.

“Come the day of the shoot, however, there was a bizarre infortuitus development,” Hardman wrote in his book “Queen of the World.”

“The Duke had mysteriously developed an infection in his trigger finger, which had been encased in a thick bandage,” he continued.

“While a palace spokesman confirmed he had been responding well to penicillin there was no way the Duke could shoot anything.”

Due to the mysterious illness, Prince Philip had “inadvertently swerved any criticism of his actions.” To push the main event, the royal’s treasurer Sir Christopher Bonham-Carter shot the fatal bullet because at the time cancellation was not an option whatever the “growing noise and fury” back in Britain was.

Just recently, Prince Philip broke a 40-year record by being the oldest male member of the royal family. The duke’s newest milestone came days after his car crash victim charged him with allegedly hiding information about two previous offenses.

However, he seemed to never learn because a few days back, Prince Philip was spotted driving in Windsor Great Park without a seatbelt. Many are concerned because the duke already gave up his license after the horror car crash, yet he still drives.

Aside from driving, Prince Philip continues his favorite hobby — riding horse-drawn carriage. The duke was last seen enjoying his ride near Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s home. He was in good spirits during the said sighting and was believed to be preparing for the Royal Windsor Horse Show next month.
