Prince Philip Described As ‘Physically Spotless’ By Royal Fan For This Reason
Prince Philip was described as “physically spotless” by a royal fan that met him in 1961.
During the Duke of Edinburgh’s trip to Sierra Leone with Queen Elizabeth II, he and his wife met with their fans during a royal procession. A woman named Irene, a former resident of Sierra Leone, gushed over Prince Philip’s appearance during an interview with ITV.
“What we were saying was welcome to the Queen, the Queen is so beautiful. And as for Prince Philip, he is spotless physically speaking, spotless. Some of us were hoping that we would grow up to have somebody as good looking as Prince Philip,” she said (via Express).
The royal fan had the opportunity to see Prince Philip up close while the Queen’s welcome procession was ongoing. Several children also took part in the occasion.
“We were given flags and we were told to line the streets, it was like she was coming from far away because we were in Freetown, and we had never traveled before. Suddenly someone was coming all the way from England. We had to learn some songs for the Queen’s visit,” she said.
Her Majesty assumed the position of Queen of Sierra Leone in 1961 after the country became an independent realm by the Sierra Leone Independence Act 1961. This transformed the British Crown Colony of Sierra Leone into an independent member of the Commonwealth.
Ten years later, the Queen was ceased to be the monarch of Sierra Leone when the monarchy was abolished in favor of a republic.
In related news, Prince Philip also made headlines this week after he was depicted negatively on “The Crown.” A spokesperson for the palace revealed that the Queen was upset over the portrayal of Prince Philip as an insensitive father to a young Prince Charles’ wellbeing.
“She was particularly annoyed at a scene in which Philip has no any sympathy for a plainly upset Charles while he is flying him from Scotland. That simply didn’t happen,” the spokesperson said (via Cosmopolitan).
